What inspires or drives you to create art? A.I have this internal impulse to create, that has been with me since I was a child. I’m not entirely sure what drives it. I’m quite reserved in social situations, so maybe it’s my subconscious way of emotionally communicating. Artwork. “I have a folder that I fill with interesting pictures of everyday moments. In this collection I have family photos, posed shots, magazine clippings, sketches and historical documents. As I’ve returned to this file over the years, I’ve found that the images have evolved over time. Not from a physical change, but through a shift in meaning forged by my own memory and experience. In my new works I have altered and displaced the figures in these pictures to echo this transformation. An approach that gives rise to a dreamlike atmosphere where reality, memory and illusion collide.” – J Valenzuela Didi Section of J VALENZUELA DIDI'S new work 'Five Sisters of the Maritime' 152 x 91cm acrylic on canvas $ 4,950.00 part of J's solo exhibition 'The Quiet Life' #jvalenzueladidi  #australiangallery

Q & A interview with Western Australian artist SAM HOPKINS !!!   Q.You use some incredible materials in your works, how did you learn to work with these…materials like aluminum, timbers and stainless steel? A. We are fortunate enough to live in a time where you can learn just about anything online. I’d say about 80% of what I have learnt starts with countless hours of research online and then just giving it a go with lots of trial and error. The best way to learn is just to do and make mistakes. I’ve learned the rest from surrounding myself with artists and fabricators who are experts in that particular medium and asked plenty of questions.
