Pop Art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in America and Britain, predominantly drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. Within this movement a conversation often emerged as to how imagery and iconography could have such a manipulative effect on people’s lifestyles. Kathryn’s work often provides a snapshot or window to a bygone era that is preserved and when sought out still lives on today.

“With this body of work, I wanted to present the viewer with a cross between flashy Americana focusing on diners, advertisements, signage, parked cars, motels, films, and mundane American subjects from an objective point of view. The goal was to capture a time gone by and evoke a sense of nostalgia in the viewer” – Kathryn Gallagher.
