“Growing up in a typical suburban Australian home in the 70’s, my first experience with paint was working with my father on the house. I recall my father painting a green figure on the side of a box with paint oozing onto the ground. This moment sat in my mind for years"- BRENDAN KELLY 'Salamander Sally'  120 x 120cm x 5cm acrylic and charcoal on plywood    #trafficjamgalleries

'Man Series Five' 56 x 56 x 2cm acrylic on canvas $ 1,195.00 by Sydney based artist JUDE HOTCHKISS   "During the recent lockdowns, my work became centered around family and home life. Digital sketching was a fast, experimental and fluid way of combining drawing with texture and colour. The faces can quickly become stretched and fragmented, but still, keep a sense of feeling and presence." – Jude

"The subjects and places featured in the works of J VALENZUELA DIDI often convey the familiar, scenes of everyday life with figures and faces you might almost recognise. Yet there is something uncanny lying just beneath the surface. J has the wonderful ability to make the ordinary extraordinary and through this exhibition, we see the wonder and beauty found in the everyday. " – tjg team notes on J's solo exhibition ‘The Quiet Life’.

Artist EDGAR SCHILTER in the studio.   Edgar's subjects of interest are decidedly honest, with recurrent themes of architecture, mechanics, technology and science. His work focuses on the methodical and meditative reproduction of detail in the hopelessly untrendy modern tradition of artisanry. His work turns the lens over the technical and structural and blends it with the pattern and texture of nature. View works by Edgar via our website, link in bio or please contact the tjg team.

Q & A – Talking with artist J VALENZUELA DIDI about his works, practice and new Solo Exhibition 'The Quiet Life' 24 Sept – 12 Oct.   Q. Can you tell us what this new body of work is about and how it began? A. Most of the concepts for these paintings came about long ago. Over the years I’ve been building up a collection of images of figures that I have found interesting. I was revisiting these images around the time I was planning this exhibition and I found they had taken on a new life and meaning for me. That drew me to expand on that idea by displacing the figures in time and space into prevailing, yet ambiguous narratives.
