"The great gold rush has never really ended it has just become corporatized, legalised, monopolised, justified and naturalised. Fly into the heart of Australia and you will see men in uniform moving about in airports, to go and dig up the earth to provide security and pleasure for their families." – DEAN REILLY   'Gold 1'- 51 x 40.5cm, 54 x 43.5cm framed acrylic on canvas $ 1,400.00

EXHBITION OPENING EVENT – DEAN REILLY 5 – 7pm Friday 9th September "In the early 1940s Australian art and culture experienced growing pains, the colonial romantic yearnings and conquest of land had been expressed in lavish romantic colonial paintings and bush ballads for over half a century. Yet, the urbanised reality unfolding with modernity and progress was forming a new perception of landscape, a tension between space and the meaning of place. I can still see and feel these beautiful yet absurd tensions unfolding today, and this is what I try to express through my art" – DEAN REILLY   Young Poet 152 x 101.5cm, 155 x 104.5cm framed acrylic on canvas $4,200.00

"Arrente art is concerned with story, ancestral connection, the dreamtime as concept which envelopes time, the past, the present and the future. I have come to learn through my academic study that the landscape is represented by our internalised feelings and memories towards the landscape. A constant theme in all Indigenous cultures is that their landscape views are based in nature, as part of us, within us, and around us. Western perceptions of land on the other hand position the landscape as the other and the outer, a site to be developed, exploited, and experienced. As a little boy growing up on the land I was constantly evolving within a combination of fear and wonder. The unfolding landscape was filled with forms of heroes and villains contained within nature, seasons, and time. This was and still is providing me with the essential ingredients of connection and experience. My experience of land was not that of conquest, violence, tragedy, or despair yet it existed upon it."-DEAN REILLY Solo Exhibition Opens September 9th from 5-7pm. 'Pooping Balloon Dog II' – 60.5 x 50.5cm, 63.5 x 53.5cm framed oil on raw gallery linen with white float frame $ 1,600.00 by TARA SPICER   “Have you heard of the famous Miss Appleby’s Balloon Dog Park? Would you go with me? We could eat fairy floss and ride Balloon Dogs all day. At lunch time, you can play a game of Hide and Seek with the Balloon Dogs. Toilet time, as it is with dogs, is not so private an affair! Come with me into a world that is a little magical and quite possibly wonder-full. This series is about escape from the mundane, about the limitless potential of delight that we can manifest into this world. A cheeky, tangible reminder to leave a wake of delight, as we move through the day.” – Tara

“I believe that painted images have the power to create a shift within a person, not unlike a song or a well-read story, that changes the person from that moment on. It is in this belief that I create these works with the intention to bring warmth, magic and hope to those appreciating…… That on some level, the viewer is moved and their faith in this world and their own light may be restored and inspired” – TARA SPICER Close up of TARA SPICER'S new painting just arrived to the gallery 'Miss Appleby's Famous Balloon Dog Park' 76 x 101.5cm canvas, 79 x 104.5cm framed oil on raw gallery linen with white float frame $ 4,500.00 free packing and shipping Australia Wide!
