Sophie Farquhar
Sophie Farquhar is an abstract artist based in Noosa. Her painterly style is rich in character and colour. She layers the canvas with raw brushstrokes and illustrative elements, celebrating the moments where colours merge and details peer through.
Sophie’s paintings offer a sense of optimism and reflection. Through her gestural markings she captures ideas around her experiences, living well and the fleeting nature of time. Her artworks are intentionally ambiguous so that they may be felt rather than read. She hopes that the viewer will interpret their own meaning within the painting.
Forever curious, Sophie is continually learning and experimenting. She’s studied with various teachers, including a course in Abstraction at the Byron School of Art in 2017. In 2024 Sophie was a finalist in the Unearthed Art Prize at Art to Art Gallery in Melbourne. She was then a finalist for both the Inside This Box Art Prize and Mini Series Art Prize at Corner Store Gallery, Orange, in 2025.
