“Making sense of the world is unique and personal to us all. We all have different responses to what we see, hear and encounter on our journeys. I focus on interpreting my journey and make sense of past and current experiences through painting compositions that excite me and question what I perceive as beauty. Through the use of impressionistic brush strokes, colour palette, light and subject matter I look for imperfections and enjoy a slight warping of reality. I ask the viewer to consider beauty without total perfection.
Humans are not perfect and we are conditioned to find imperfections with our own reflection, lives and situations. I pose the question ‘What is beauty and why are we so obsessed with it?’” – Dylan Cooper
