“Dopamine is a naturally-occurring “feel-good” chemical that triggers our inner rewards system (it’s released when we eat delicious food, have sex, and when we take addictive drugs). Social media mimics human connection, prompting dopamine release. The feedback loop is manifesting through posts, as people post anticipating responses and are rewarded by likes and other reactions. Social media is not addictive by accident, it’s addictive by design. We are trapped by choice.” – Delia
