Commissioning of artworks, Corporate or Private.
Our artists can be commissioned to create artworks that meet specific requirements. There may be an instance where a work has sold and the client would like something that bears a similar feel. The commission work will never replicate the initial work, but working with a brief agreed upon by the artist and client through the gallery, a totally unique work carrying elements of the first sighted work can be achieved.
Another scenario may be that a work on exhibit or sold is not in the format or size desired, the gallery can work with the client and artist to meet criteria on subject, format, colour palette and size. The price charged for a commission does not carry a surcharge and is based on what the artist would charge for a particular size work when in general exhibition.
Alternatively a client may wish to commission a selected artist with limited restrictions and an open framework to create a work.
WEDDING REGISTRY AND GIFT CERTIFICATES
A Wedding and Gift Registry facility is available as are Gift Certificates. The Registry is used for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirement or simply just spoiling yourself. The team can assist in the selection of a work, coordinate clients’ combining funds to purchase works of art and prepare personalised invitations or notifications for the parties involved.
Gift Certificates have a nominated value and are valid for 3 years.
GALLERY FOR HIRE
The gallery is for hire for most evenings from 6 pm to 12 am and throughout the day and evenings on Sundays and Mondays. The space can be hired as a functioning gallery with its associated art in situ or without. If you are considering a unique venue to host an event, please contact the team for more information.
LARGE VOLUME ARTWORKS AND THE INSTALLATION OF WORKS
traffic jam galleries can provide a list of experienced technicians who will collect from the gallery purchased artworks and install.
HANGING ART
Hanging art professionally is an art in itself. Please contact the team for a list of Sydney based art installers. The team can also source interstate technicians if required.
STUDIO VISITS
Visits can be arranged to artists’ studios. There are a number of artists who are happy to open their studios and to meet with clients, providing an insight into their art making process and the environment they create within.

VISUALISE ARTWORKS IN SITU
Whether it be location or time constraints, the opportunity to see a work in the flesh is not always available. An alternative is to email us an image of the space the artwork is being considered for and the actual wall or area and we will superimpose onto the images you have provided the artworks you have selected. Providing wall dimensions and ceiling heights greatly helps with the accuracy of this process.
ARTIST TALKS AND EVENTS
During the exhibition program, we host Opening Nights or Afternoons where the artist will speak about their practice or take part in a Q & A. Our artists will on occasion visit the gallery for additional artist talks, these Openings and talks provide both the artist and client the opportunity to interact.
A majority of our artists are based interstate if there is a particular artist you would like to meet, please contact the gallery and we can advise when they will be visiting.
The artists are also available for prearranged group talks and lectures for private and corporate functions and to address school groups.
ART ACQUISITION
If you are looking for a work by a specific artist that we do not currently represent we may be able to assist. Please contact the team and if we cannot locate a piece of art, we may be able to source another party who can.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
When purchasing works of art from traffic jam galleries, an email post sale will be sent with an attached Invoice reflecting payment, a Certificate of Authenticity and if available for the particular work an Artist Statement. Often material from the exhibition that the artwork is being purchased from will also be available.
It is wise to keep all the paperwork and support material together as these papers and any promotional and published editorial material form your provenance. Provenance is the record of ownership and history of a work. Keeping the paperwork safe, as well as the art, is an integral part of collecting and is also important for insurance purposes.
LAYBY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Layby Agreement: By selecting to purchase an artwork by means of the layby facility we offer, you enter into a layby agreement with Traffic Jam Galleries for the purchase of artwork or products from Traffic Jam Galleries. This agreement is subject to these Terms.
- Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total purchase price is required to initiate the layby agreement. This deposit will be deducted from the total purchase price.
- Payment Schedule: The remaining balance of the purchase price must be paid in regular installments over an agreed-upon period, as specified in the layby agreement. Failure to make timely payments may result in cancellation of the layby agreement and forfeiture of the deposit.
- Payment Methods: Payments can be made via credit card, bank transfer, or any other payment method accepted by Traffic Jam Galleries. Payments must be made in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- Cancellation: You may cancel your layby agreement at any time by notifying us in writing. In the event of cancellation, the deposit will be forfeited, and any payments made beyond the deposit will be refunded to you within a reasonable time frame.
- Product Availability: The artwork or products selected for layby will be reserved for you until the layby agreement is fulfilled, subject to availability. If the selected item becomes unavailable during the layby period, we will notify you and offer alternative options or a refund.
- Collection: The artwork or products will be made available for collection or delivery upon full payment of the purchase price. Collection or delivery arrangements must be made within a reasonable time frame following full payment.
- Ownership: Ownership of the artwork or products will remain with Traffic Jam Galleries until full payment of the purchase price is received.
- Changes to Terms: We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website.
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
Currently, traffic jam galleries offer free packaging and freight Australia wide. The gallery freights locally, interstate and internationally.
We source a number of quotes for our clients so they may select which freight company they would prefer.
Packaging and crating are complimentary unless the selected freight company for insurance purposes specifies that they prepare and pack the work for shipping
