"Light and colour are the most important things to me when I am designing a painting. I work from photographs as I need to capture a particular time of day. I have many favourite places that I walk around with my camera. I design my paintings on my tablet piecing together many photographs, playing with background colours and literally painting with my finger. Watercolour is a very unforgiving medium so I need to have everything designed before I start. It is translucent therefore you cannot paint a lighter colour over a dark colour – you can’t change your mind halfway through. " - PAT HALL
