“This artwork is an exploration of the relationship between the Australian bush flora and the lagoon of water as it wanders in from the Pacific Ocean. Elements of nature such as the colours of the bush, the small strip of sand on the right hand side of the canvas, the natural waterfall and lagoon, were delightful to interpret on canvas. The morning light bouncing off the cliff faces and the reflections in the still water of the lagoon were my main interest and motivation for this calm and restful scene. It is hard to grasp that an oasis such as this lies one hour south of Australia’s largest city, in the Royal National Park. No matter the changes of the nearby civilization, this area is withstanding and remains contant and untouched as it has for thousands of years. Dharawal Country commands such respect.” – Nicole Southworth
