“Porous and Quivering” is a quote from philosopher Jane Bennett referring to the vitality of metal. She describes how the microstructure of metal is far from internally uniform, made of mostly curved-edge and irregular polyhedra, loose atoms, voids and cracks. These metal grains, gaps and ‘quivering free atoms’ are in constant conversation, pressing on and responding to their neighbours in shifting feedback spirals and porous boundaries.” – Will Maguire
