Artist Statement
Alejandra’s recent works focus on three-dimensional patterns and how an audiences’ interactions manipulate the overall outcome of a painting. The objective of her current work is to involve the audience in a new visual experience and highlights the relationship between matter, space and the sensations of the viewer.
“My aim with this series is to create paintings in three dimensions, I wanted the works to be playful and to engage with an audience.
I am interested in the analogy between objects and human bodies. Rather than regarding the two as separate differing entities – one being soulless and functional and the other governed by intuition and insight – I wanted to imply greater depth, I aim to evoke new sensations as my viewers respond and become part of the visual experience of the works.” – Alejandra Sieder
