This body of work conveys simultaneous elements of attraction and repulsion. These responses draw us in to further delve and note the beautiful detail and colour palette consistent with that of flesh, skin and fur of small animals. A number of works feature animals either slain, injured or having suffered a horrific death. The question can be raised ‘Is merit measured by the squashedness of the subject ?’ The hours spent delving and creating, and the care and attention to detail given to these particular works appears to play a role in elevating the subject to a monumental status, an ode to the animal.
